Google: Behind the Numbers

How big is Google? In some respects, it could be considered an entire country. Since its inception in the late '90s, Google has quickly grown and expanded into a multi-billion dollar business, and it is still growing at rapid pace. Due to its popularity as a search engine, the company is so well-known that its name is practically synonymous with "Internet" and "World Wide Web." Google is no longer just a company name; it's also a verb. For many people, Googling is the first step in the process by which one browses the Internet.

However, Google is more than just a search engine. To put it lightly, Google now has a hand in most all things Internet related, including software, cloud computing and social media. But all of these things only contribute to the Internet giant's biggest source of revenue: advertising. It is in this area that Goggle has literally become a world power.
